Each year Arizona Construction Career Days (AZCCD) hosts an event to introduce high school students, counselors, politicians, and industry leaders to careers in the construction industry. AZCCD is the largest construction event that reaches out to high school students throughout Arizona, hosting schools that travel from all over the state, some from as far as 300 miles!
This year’s event brought together over 3,000 attendees to promote the construction industry and the careers it offers to the next generation. Including many different booths, pamphlets, and interactive experiences, students were able to operate construction equipment, try out power tools, and more.
On November 4th and 5th, Build Your Future Arizona was proud to attend the event with an exhibition designed to give students a hands-on construction experience with a bracket competition and a PVC pipe challenge. The BYFAZ team was able to connect directly with over 1,136 individuals with 78 participants in the PVC pipe challenge and over 40 career and educator packets distributed. The PVC pipe challenge was such a success, local teachers want to incorporate it into the classroom!
Events like AZ Construction Career Days help secure the future of Arizona construction by debunking myths and showing students what a career in construction can truly provide. With hands-on experiences and direct contact with industry professionals, these individuals can learn far more than they ever would through search engines and social media.
